Carnitas have European roots, but in Mexico it is a very common dish that everyone loves! The exact place of origin of this dish is not known, but it is believed that its origin is in some states where it is cooked as a traditional dish: Hidalgo, Jalisco, Querétaro and Michoacán, which are characterized by the preparation of this dish. .
Traditionally, the carnitas are fried in a giant copper pot as this gives it a special flavor. The copper pot is made in the town of Santa Clara del Cobre in Michoacán.
